Aaron Francis, CPA
Account Manager

Aaron Francis is an Account Manager for Aston Carter, a division of Aerotek, specializing in the placement of Accounting & Finance professionals in temporary/contact, project-based and/or consulting assignments in the Kansas City market. Aaron is diligent in his client service and is committed to being the best in his profession. He joined Aston Carter in 2011 and has developed a wealth of relationships throughout the Kansas City market over his 8 year career. He was recently recognized for providing “Word Class” customer service to his clients and contractors, based on an independent survey.

Prior to joining Aston Carter, Aaron served for more than four years in the audit practice for EY in Kansas City. He led audit engagements for a variety of clients both large and small, primarily in the construction, agriculture, manufacturing and non-profit industries. Additionally, Aaron spearheaded the development of the volunteer program and after-school mentoring relationship between EY and the students of Gordon Parks Elementary School.

Aaron was born and raised in Saint Joseph, MO. He earned his Master of Accountancy from the University of Missouri in 2006 and upon graduation earned his CPA license, prior to beginning his career with EY. Aaron and his wife, Megan, a Speech Language Pathologist, live in Lee’s Summit with their children, Charlotte and Maxwell, and their dog, Frannie.

BrittanyBrittany is currently the Recruiting Operations and College Relations Manager at Black & Veatch. She started her recruiting career in the power industry in 2010, and has continued to work for companies leading the way within the Engineering and Construction industry. She has worked in Talent Acquisition at B&V since 2014, starting as a recruiter and then moving to multiple leadership positions prior to her current role. Brittany not only values growth, but also opportunities to learn and develop within her current position. At B&V she’s served as an Human Resources Business Partner, graduated from the Central Exchange Emerging Leaders Program, worked on strategic initiatives, managed change, and challenged processes.

Molly Weaver, MBA, is the Director of Talent Acquisition for Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics. She is responsible for all hiring for the hospital with the exception of physicians and has been with the hospital nine years. The goal of Talent Acquisition at Children’s Mercy is to ensure that the organization has the talent it needs in the right place, at the right time, with the right skills now and in the future.

Prior to joining Children’s Mercy she was a Senior Recruiting Manager with responsibilities for recruiting programs for T-Mobile USA. Her focus is on attracting and keeping top healthcare talent for Children’s Mercy while ensuring the candidate experience is the best it can be. Current initiatives include internal mobility, use of video in innovative ways, building internal skills through tuition programs and extending the reach into high schools to ensure talent is there for the future.

Kyle has been in Talent Acquisition for more than 15 years and has recruited nationwide for all levels of roles, most recently to add talent to the dairy cooperative. These roles range from member services, supply chain, finance, manufacturing and human resources.

 At Dairy Farmers of America, Kyle manages a team of seven recruiting and compensation professionals, focused on adding talent to our corporate office and 40+ additional locations. As a business partner, she supports other departments as the organization continues to grow.

Kyle graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Prior to joining DFA, she worked in the financial sector and temporary staffing industry.

At Garmin, Sara manages a team of eight recruiters and coordinators focused on hiring electrical, mechanical, and software engineering new grads and interns. She has a passion for helping people and loves finding solutions to complex problems in the workplace.

Sara graduated from MidAmerica Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Arts in Management and Human Relations. Prior to joining Garmin, she worked in the accounting and behavioral health industry recruiting entry-level, interns, and experience associates to Kansas City. Barbara W. StapletonBarbara Stapleton, vice president of business retention & talent initiatives for GO Topeka and inclusion officer for the Greater Topeka Partnership, joined the team in March 2015 after serving as the associate director for career & technical education, workforce development for the Kansas Board of Regents. Barbara has used her relationship management talents in a breadth of industries, including higher education, banking, legal and even transportation & logistics; working for fortune 500 companies, non-profits, small businesses and state government.  From serving as a marketing officer to a senior account executive, engagement and collaboration are what drives interactions for her.  She has over 20 years of relationship management, business development, marketing and professional development experience, holding a bachelor of arts in political science from Purdue University and a master of science in management from Baker University.

Barbara is a past 2017 fellow with the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executive’s (ACCE) Fellowship for Education and Talent Development, creating a regional action plan for a collective impact, cradle through career initiative in the region. She recently was accepted into cohort IX of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s TPM Academy, part of the Talent Pipeline ManagementTM (TPM) initiative, and currently serves on Kansas’ Local Area II Workforce Development Board, Washburn University’s Leadership Institute Advisory Board, Emporia State University’s Corporate Advisory Board, and the International Economic Development Council’s Higher Education Advisory Committee.

Shari Soper has an extensive track record of delivering talent acquisition results at a global, and enterprise wide level that align with strategic business objectives.  She brings expertise in global talent acquisition process design, change management, innovation, and talent branding.  Presently, Shari is the Director of Talent Acquisition for the H&R Block headquarters, where she leads the talent acquisition function and team to deliver the attraction, selection, and onboarding of 80,000+ hires per year.

Prior to H&R Block, Shari spent ten years with Colgate-Palmolive, most recently as Regional Talent Acquisition Leader, The America’s.  Shari was previously on the Board of Directors for the Topeka Performing Arts Center, and also acted as steering committee chair for the Women Empowered Network of Hill’s Pet Nutrition.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Management and Leadership from Friends University in Wichita, KS.

Fred Wise

Fred Wise is the Human Resources Director for the Global Talent Acquisition and has led Diversity and Inclusion for Hallmark Cards.  He graduated from the Olin School of Business from Washington University in St. Louis with a BS degree in Business Administrations (1989); and holds an MS degree in Organizational Development from American University & NTL Institute in Washington, D.C. (1996).  

Fred’s human resource experience spans 28 years in the HR field with the Pepsi-Cola Company, Nabisco and Hallmark.  His expertise includes: recruiting, talent management, leadership development; workforce and succession planning; organization development; executive and international compensation; and H.R business partnership. 

He has a strong passion for mentoring and coaching diverse talent and in serving the community.  He has served as a mentor, Membership chair and now a board member of the 100 Black Men of Kansas City.  He has been a multi-year,  Hallmark team captain for Christmas in October – a local non-profit organizations, devoted to making home improvements for the veteran, elderly, disabled and undeserved populations.  He is an active, board member with the Urban League of Greater Kansas City – supporting their strategic empowerment, healthcare and employment initiatives.  And he is a member of the University of Missouri- Kansas City Bloch Management School Advisory Council; focused on advancing the school’s brand and value to the Kansas City business and civic communities.

When time permits, Fred enjoys cycling, fitness, travel and spending time with his family.  He is married with 2 children – one enrolled at University of Missouri in K.C. and the other in High school in Overland Park, Kansas.

KARA LOWEKara is Chief Operating Officer of the KC Tech Council, a membership-based association serving as the regional advocate for Kansas City’s tech industry. Kara’s role is focused on driving organizational growth through investor development, strategic partnerships,  marketing and events. Prior to joining the KC Tech Council in 2016, Kara accumulated more than a decade of experience leading marketing, corporate sponsorship's and public relations efforts for some of Kansas City's premier destinations, including the Country Club Plaza.

She currently serves on the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) advisory board for The University of Kansas Edwards Campus, the advisory board for Team KC, the talent initiative for the Kansas City Area Development Council, the marketing committee for Children’s Center for the Visually-Impaired (CCVI), and is an active volunteer and girls basketball coach at St. Elizabeth Catholic Parish. Kara is a 2015 graduate of the KC Chamber's Centurions Leadership Program and a journalism graduate from the University of Kansas. Kyri Gorges leads the campus recruiting effort at KPMG Kansas City. She has over 13 years of experience in the public accounting industry with 6 years of client service experience and over 7 years of fulltime recruiting responsibilities. At KPMG, her responsibilities include the development and implementation of local office strategies, relationship development with key professionals at major universities, and serves and leads various national recruiting programs for one of the largest accounting firms in the world. Kyri also sits on the steering committee of the local chapter of KPMG’s Network of Women.

In addition to the aforementioned, Kyri was a member of the 2017 Centurions class, serves as an Advisory Board Member of the KU Accounting Advisory Board and sits on several Career Services Board around the Midwest; and serves on the Operation Breakthrough Leadership Council.

Most recently, after taking a short hiatus to focus on her greatest blessing, welcoming a daughter to her family, she is excited to be back where she belongs.

Prior to joining Spring Venture Group in 2019, Kristi was the Manager of Talent Acquisition at H&R Block. She is also the State Director for Missouri State Council of SHRM where she leads a team of 30 volunteers. Kristi has been a SHRM volunteer since 2002.

Sheri RatliffSheri Ratliff currently holds the position of director Talent Acquisition at Sprint, with responsibility for all Enterprise recruitment efforts. Responsibilities include partnering with the various business units to forecast future talent needs and identify talent for current opportunities. Driving strategy for recruitment marketing, branding, candidate and manager experience while attracting diverse and qualified candidates.

With more than 16 years at Sprint, Sheri has led a variety of operations and shared services teams, ranging from Payroll, Employee Helpline & Transactions, Commissions, Accounts Payable and HR Technology.

Sheri is actively engaged with several workforce initiatives, holding a seat on the KU Edwards Workforce Advisory board, Kansas City Veterans Coalition, Consumer Technology Association 21st Century Workforce Council and represents Sprint on the Google IT Certificate Program.

Having an insatiable desire to innovate with a focus on organizational effectiveness, Sheri leverages analytics and strategic partnerships to achieve best in class results. Currently, Steve serves as the Global Project Lead for Associate Recruiting, involved in planning and executing State Street’s Talent Acquisition Global Footprint Strategy. As a leader and change agent, he works with other partners in Global Human Resources, other support departments and business leaders in locations including Kansas City to help provide talent solutions and ensure State Street is recognized as a preferred employer.

Amber Goreham is the Director of Career Services at the University of Central Missouri (UCM). In her role, her team is tasked with leading career readiness initiatives as well as working to connect students and graduates to opportunities that will ultimately help them to achieve First Destination Success beyond graduation. She joined the Career Services team in 2008 and has been in higher education for the past 15 years.

Amber is currently involved in the following organizations, National Association of Colleges and Employers, the Midwest Association of Colleges and Employers, and The Career Services Collective. In addition to her roles and responsibilities at the university, Amber has also taken part in an external review committee of other Career Centers. Amber also teaches First Year Seminar, Business Communication, and Learning Strategy courses as needed.

Amber graduated from UCM with a Master of Science in Ethical and Strategic Leadership as well as a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in the areas of Management and Human Resources. She is originally from FlowerMound, Texas and came to UCM to pursue her degree and to also be a part of the Jennies Bowling Program.

With more than 15 years of experience in the marketing and advertising industry, Kimberly joined VML in 2014 as Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition. She became Associate Director, Talent Acquisition in 2016 and was promoted to Director, Talent Acquisition in January 2018. Today Kimberly is responsible for leading recruitment efforts for all North American offices as well being a strategic partner with company leadership to ensure staffing goals are met. Previously Kimberly spent four years at PlattForm Advertising (now Keypath Education) where she began as Account Executive and was promoted to Talent Acquisition Manager in the agency’s HR department. Kimberly holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Kansas State University (KSU) and an MSA in textile science, also from KSU. Kimberly is a VML brand champion who leverages the agency’s successes to develop talent acquisition strategies that will attract top talent. She’s also a social maven that tells the VML story via Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn and considers herself a problem solver, creative thinker, champion of people, strategist and hustler.
