Young Pros in KC | The TeamKC Podcast

by Addie Linn | Sep 05, 2019

"You're missing out, come now."

These are the five words that young professional aficionado, Dustin Wolfe, would use to pitch living in KC to his peers in other markets.

Wolfe, in addition to being a hyper-involved young pro himself, is the current chair of the young professionals' board, GenKC. He joined us on The TeamKC Podcast to discuss all things YP in KC. Listen here:

"You can't describe the city and the things that it offers in five words, there's just no way," Wolfe said.

And the media is no stranger to KC and all its offerings. The metro is consistently ranked a top place for millennials and recent grads to live and work. The below listings are just a few of the nods KC has received:

No. 3 City for Twentysomething Growth | KC Business Journal/CBRE
Top City for Millennials To Move To | SmartAsset
No. 1 City Twentysomethings Should Pick Up and Move To | BuzzFeed
Best Cities for New College Grads | SmartAsset
Best Cities for Job Hunters | CBS News
Where Millennials Have the Best Cost of Living | Dallas Business Journal
No. 2 City for High Paying Jobs & Low Cost of Living | CNBC
5 Reasons Millennials Should Give Kansas City a Second Look | Livability

Yet, there's more to life in KC than practicality and low cost of living. Wolfe also described the "intangible" factors that contribute to a flourishing social landscape. The nightlife, art, music, dining and brewery scenes, just to name a few.

No longer a “well-kept secret,” the KC region has seen immense growth in YP population. In fact, from 2012-2017, the “twentysomething growth” that put KC in the headlines equated to more than 9,000 young adults migrating to the area. With a welcoming social atmosphere, an abundance of affordable living options and countless opportunities for millennial and Gen Z pros to connect with their peers, the national buzz is no surprise to those already living it up in KC.

To any new professional searching for a city you can make your own - look no further.
