TeamKC Scouting Report | The Beer Edition...

by Addie Linn | May 09, 2019

I love my city…
What to say when they ask about life in KC - which is exactly what City Barrel Brewing Co. says in everything they do. City Barrel brews, cans and serves its beers in a space that celebrates KC in more ways than one. Its brewing tanks are named after KC neighborhoods, and its bar backdrop is made of reclaimed wood that once adorned the Nelson-Atkins Museum. Sit inside its Instagram-ready dining hall or outside on its rooftop “barrel deck.” You won’t regret it.

On the subject of local brews…
There’s some serious beer magic happening west of the state line. Shawnee and Mission are home to new breweries we’re totally here for. Searvaes in Shawnee is a female-owned, family-centric brewhouse and craft soda shop focusing on NEIPAs. If you’re spontaneous - this one’s for you. No flagship beers, and a rotating menu, means you’ll be served a different dose of delicious every time.

Mission is the home of Sandhill Brewing’s newest locale. This tiny microbrewery has a flagship store in Hutchinson, Kansas but planted roots here in April. Due to its size, Sandhill has the ability to experiment with new beers, giving it a unique tap list year round. Try anything from a stout to a Scotch ale.

When spring fever pushes you outdoors...
How about a brew with a view? Percheron, the rooftop bar atop Crossroads Hotel is open for business…. And it’s not just for hotel guests. YEP, this grand deck overlooking the downtown area is open to the public. Hop on over to take in the sights while enjoying the menu selection of drafts, cans and cocktails. It’ll be a sensory experience you won’t want to miss.

Now put your drink the air...
Cheers! We’re celebrating lots at TeamKC… Like our board member Shari Soper, Director of Talent Acquisition at H&R Block. Shari is serving as a thought leader on the IBM Watson Talent Board for Artificial Intelligence. Woo! We’re proud to have leaders like Shari guiding what we do at TeamKC. Another big win for our region - CarMax recently announced it will open a customer experience center with plans to hire 300 individuals. The TeamKC Network helped seal the deal in this decision. It’s what we do.
